Stronger protection would probably just generate more interest from people cracking software. It would probably be quite easy to manipulate an app to for example send your contact list to a server or send a SMS to some pay service somewhere. All that risk just to save a dollar or euro in most cases. That said... Google could you please enable paid apps in Sweden...
